The school day begins at 8:30am. Pupils are expected to be with their form tutor from this time and so are required to be on the school yard by 8:25 prompt.
Pupils who arrive at the school gates after 8:30am will be marked down as late and required to attend detention.
The start and end of each day is signalled by the school bell. Pupils are expected to be at their next lesson, lined up outside the classroom in an orderly fashion as quickly as possible for each lesson period.
The school day concludes at 3:30pm.
Southmoor Academy operates a 58 period timetable spread over two school weeks to make a total teaching time of 29 hours per week as follows:

*Period 6 on a Wednesday is the enrichment period with no scheduled lessons. Pupils may leave school at 2:35pm on Wednesdays but are encouraged to engage in enrichment activities about the school from 2:40pm to 4:00pm onwards. It is not compulsory that pupils attend enrichment though we highly recommend it.
