Life Saving with the RNLI
We were delighted to welcome into school the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institute) as part of their ‘Meet the Lifeguard’ programme. The RNLI are aiming to educate all young people about water safety. The lifeguards delivered special assemblies to all Year 7, 8 and 9 students about the most basic safety information when they find themselves in and around water. This included how to identify a Beach Lifeguard, the meanings of the Beach flags, the hazards around the water and to know what to do if students themselves get into trouble or see someone else in trouble. These assemblies were then followed by some practical dry side lifesaving lessons for some Personal Development classes in Years 7, 8 and 9 both outside and in the classroom. It is really important to think about water safety particularly as we head into the summer and warmer weather.
