Conspiracy Online Focus Group
Last Wednesday, we welcomed into school two researchers from Public First, who are conducting research, on behalf of The Pears Foundation, seeking to understand how online conspiracy theories, as well as misinformation and disinformation, are manifesting in the classroom, and across schools more broadly. It is focused on understanding how schools and teachers can be supported to best counter the threat of various conspiracies and disinformation campaigns among their students. The thoughts and feedback from students will be part of a wider research report to be published later this year. This will be available to view online. The researchers spoke to 4 groups of students in 2 with around 5-6 students per group. The researchers were very impressed with the views of the young people and left the school with plenty of information for their research report.
