Summer Readathon
We are challenging pupils to read four books over the summer holiday and keep a log of what they read and their opinions of them. Parents/carers were asked to select one free book from the list for Years 6, 7 and 8 and those eligible in Year 9. All parents received a reading list to inspire their children but any books can of course count. Each list consisted of five books in each category signifying the book’s level of challenge: bronze, silver or gold. You can download the readathon log by clicking here.
Year 9 pupils have been participating in a nationwide ‘Young Writer’s competition. Pupils are turning their literary skills to writing a ‘spine-chiller’ short story in 100 words or less. Entries will be collected before term ends and there is a possibility for their work to be published in a book or even win a trophy and monetary prize should they be successful!
Good luck to all our Southmoor readers and writers!
