Over 100 Year 7 and 8 students from across the city descended on Southmoor for the Sunderland Schools’ Rugby Union Competition.  Southmoor, Castle View, Monkwearmoth, Sandhill View, St Aidan’s and Grindon Hall all took to the field.  Southmoor performed with great determination, enthusiasm and resilience in several hard fought matches winning 3 out of 5 games securing victories over St Aidan’s, Sandhill View and Grindon, with narrow defeats to Monkwearmouth and overall winners Castle View.  Four of our Year 11s put their RFU refereeing qualifications to good use controlling the games brilliantly and gaining praise from the other schools.  Overall a fantastic day and great to see so many pupils enjoying rugby!
