Ich Bin Ein Berliner!
Last month, a group of 50 enthusiastic pupils embarked on an unforgettable school trip to Berlin, Germany to explore the city and its renowned Christmas markets. Renowned for their vibrant displays, festive ambiance and an array of German treats, pupils visited four different Christmas markets including the iconic Gendarmenmarkt.
The school trip wasn’t just about the festive markets; it also included educational visits to historical landmarks such as the Berlin Wall memorial site, the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, the Reichstag Building and a visit to the memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe. Pupils even experienced a trip up the Berlin TV Tower which dominates the skyline, standing an impressive 368 meters high. Pupils experienced a 360-degree view that stretched as far as the eye could see.
Pupils were praised by several members of the public during our trip for their exceptional conduct and manners and our 50 young linguists were a real credit to Southmoor Academy and the MFL department.
