Battlefield Touring Historians
At the end of last term, the History Department’s yearly Battlefields Trip took place. Pupils stayed in Belgium and visited areas of the Western Front in Ypres and Somme areas. Pupils were able to find out how and why the First World War was a war that amounted to so many casualties on both sides. They visited a range of different places from museums, battlefields, and Commonwealth and German cemeteries. Pupils were given the opportunity to visit family members who had fallen during the conflict, which is especially poignant for those pupils involved, making the trip a one of reflection as well and learning and fun.
