Swim Gala Glory
Year 7 and 8 Southmoor Swimmers swam their socks off to compete against nine other Sunderland secondary schools including; Monkwearmouth, St Anthony’s, St Robert, Castle View, Farringdon, Thornhill, Oxclose, Biddick, Sandhill View at the Sunderland Schools Swim Gala.
The girl’s team swam brilliantly, and Matilda Smith came first in front crawl individuals, Imilia Youngachieved her personal best, Alexandra Wood came first in the Breaststroke individuals, Alice Macnabwent on to secure second position in the freestyle relay and second in the medley for the team. There were some great swims from the girls, and they did us proud.
The boys team held their own throughout and went through to compete in the individual race finals, going on to secure a win by coming third overall in the school gala. A great performance from Aaron McGee, Daniel Trewick, Arun Tivegna and Moreland Evans.
There were lots of happy swimmers which makes all the effort worthwhile, and it was great to see some of the parents cheering them on. A big congratulations to all the swimmers who attended.
